AA: at Frisco 5, Springfield 1 Frisco trails best-of-five finals 1-2
Frisco staved off elimination behind a masterful effort from Barret Loux, who no-hit the Cardinals for 5.1 innings and departed with a line of 6.1 innings, two hits, three walks and a run. He also struck out eight, tying a season high set twice back in April. Loux fanned seven of his last 12 batters.
Losing 3-0, Springfield 2B Kolten Wong broke up the no-hitter with a bunt single. I couldn't get hold of Bob Brenly to ascertain whether that violated baseball's unwritten rules. CF Oscar Taveras plated Wong with a two-out double.
Wilmer Font closed out the win with strikeouts to five of six batters faced.
Catcher Jose Felix scored Frisco's first run on a two-out double in the 3rd by Leury Garcia. Garcia was 2-4 with two runs drvien in, while Felix was 2-3 with a double and RBI. Ryan Strausborger reached three times on a walk and two singles, and 1B Chris McGuiness concluded Frisco's scoring in the 7th with a two-out RBI double. RF Jared Hoying also singled twice and tallied an easy outfield assist when runner Greg Garcia wandered too far off first on a line out.
Cody Buckel will pitch Game 5, if needed.
